wake up call

What a wonderful day...Monday. Sometimes you just don't want to get up out of the bed even though you know you have to. I had to get the boys off to school and that is always a chore since the older one already says, "It's not six thirty yet mommy." or he will say, "I don't need to go today, I feel sick." Quite funny but I still make them go. No sense in starting the bad habit I let my daughter get by just choosing to stay home if she remotely was not feeling well. I guess some of that comes from worrying too much that this time might be the real time she is really bad sick and I send her off anyways. It is for sure Monday and so goes the start of another great week.

Today in the news there is such a big issue about the American Idol judges and for the life of me I really don't understand why they are being attacked for the comments they make. I mean, there are alot of people, stadiums filled with would be "singers". Most come because at some point in their life, some family member or friend, with the obligation to be nice and not realistic, told them they had a beautiful voice. Though each of us in his or her own way has a talent or two, why is it hard to accept the truth? I watched a few of the episodes and I literally was embarassed for alot of the people that were trying out. One girl was even singing like the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz.

Who in their right mind could possibly think that this is what they are looking for? I am not knocking anyone for a talent that they have and I think that it is so wonderful to posess an ability that perhaps others do not have. But the bottom line is this, people know going into those auditions that there is a judge that will probably make a statement that they will not like. And for these people, it is truly a wake up call that they just really are tone deaf and could never possibly be the next great singer. Perhaps if they took lessons from a professional and learned really how to sing it would be great if they became something. There are some people that just are born with the natural talent. The auditions that I saw, my 4 year old sings on key much more than alot of these people did. I mean really he does.

I also feel that people shouldn't be so angry at constructive criticism. It hurts to be told your not good at something, it really does. But it is also a reality check and unfortunately, alot of people get mad when they do get that wake up call.
